AG offers $5,000 reward for tips on illegal animal fights

A number of sources reported recently that Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum has announced a reward program that will pay $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of someone involved in animal fighting activity. The cost of the potential reward is being funded by the Humane Society of the United States. According to an article in News Press, McCollum was quoted as saying "Animal fighting is a violent crime that at times is associated with illegal gangs, drugs, firearms and gambling," said McCollum. "Florida will have no tolerance for people who abuse animals for entertainment."
