A number of major news outlets are reporting this morning on the lawsuit filed yesterday against the USDA by the Humane Society of United States. A copy of the complaint, which was filed in federal district court in D.C., is available from HSUS's website here (pdf).
The lawsuit asserts that the regulations promulgated by the USDA fail to protect the nation's food supply from being contaminated with meat from cattle at a higher risk of carrying mad-cow disease. The suit follows a video of workers a California meat plant that led to the nation's largest meat recall ever. Here's a sampler of a few of the articles:
