UF to auction naming rights to new butterfly

The University of Florida News reports here on plans to auction the naming rights to a newly discovered butterfly. One of the researchers from Florida Museum’s McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity and who discovered the owl butterfly stated that “it is extraordinarily uncommon for such a large, showy butterfly to have escaped detection until now. This likely will be one of the last times such a large and beautiful butterfly is named.” Those interested in bidding can go to iGavel.com.
