Raising money for greyhounds and awareness about dog fighting

The Sun-Sentinel reports on a Race/Walk for retired racing greyhounds and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Anti-Dog Fighting Campaign. The event was sponsored by the Sheriff's office and the Greyhound Pets of America. The story quotes Sheriff Ric Bradshaw on the how animal abuse is a warning sign:
"Dog fighting and dog abuse are early signs of violence," said Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. "We're simply not going to tolerate animal abuse."
. . .
"I was sick to my stomach," he said. "If you teach kids to be respectful and treat animals with respect, they are less likely to do harm to other human beings."
The story also notes that the Palm Beach State Attorney's office has prosecuted 41 animal fighting cases since January of 2003.
